I've had my android phone a couple of months now, here's my mega-list of apps to get!

1. Manga and anime.
Yay! I can watch anime on the go. And read an endless supply of Manga too with two apps i found
- Mango. (online and offline :) )
- Crunchyroll (although you need membership if you want to watch over 3g )

- Tubemate is a good YouTube downloader if you want to prepare some videos for a trip.

2. Games

Gameboid - A gameboy advance Emulator, with all these new fangled gadgets out, return to the days of the gba.
Snes9x Ex - A SNES emulator. More Emulation Fun :D

3. Media

MoboPlayer - want to watch a video that's not in the correct format for your phone? this'll deal with it!
SkyFire - A browser to watch flash videos from the internet (useful when you can't find a video on youtube)
Ghosttown - Like GrooveShark, play and song you can think of, provided your connected to the internet. (Currently down, but hopefully they get up again)

4. Other

Dropbox - Sync files from your computer so you can be working on stuff outside your usual space.
APNdroid - Stop your phone using 3G internet when you don't want it to. Very useful for saving money.
ConnectBot - use IRC? or want to SSH to a server? this is the app for you

Well... Almost.
I've got 3 sources of income that you can use too. None of that "pay $50 beforehand" stuff.

Surveys are one way of getting money, my Irish blog readers can take advantage of Irish Opinions Surveys.
You can earn vouchers as soon as you hit €10 (I've due to get one soon).
You have to stick with it though, and it will take a while, but it is a valid site. :)

Otomata is a music maker program. Click on your desired squares and press play. whenever the squares collide with a wall or another square, you will get a certain pitch. It's really entertaining and although there are some similar programs out there, I don't think I've seen one implemented just quite this well.

And somehow all the different songs seem to sound good :)

You can submit a suspicious URL or File to the website, and it will perform scans on that object using various well-reputed virus detecters. Handy if you've been downloading some files from a website you're unfamiliar with.

Finding New Music

I had a post a while back on finding new music on Myspace and such (don't believe me? go search!)
Since then I have discovered a duo of websites that contribute greatly to my music finds.

These websites are Last.Fm and GrooveShark. Last.Fm gives you a list of reccommended bands / artists based on your current bands you like (you can synch from itunes and other programs to update).
And I use grooveshark to listen to the bands that are recommended :)

Also, Last.Fm provides the occasional good free download.

one of the features i like best is the ability to turn the volume up to 200%!

Well, this blog is coming along swimmingly, here's some stats for you :)

June was the most visited month, shows how much those LC students wanted notes lol.

there has been approx 2200 visits, its at the bottom of the page if you ever want to check.

a total of 88 blog posts over 10 months. approximately 2 posts a week.

most google searches were for "oooh cool" and "dcg notes", but there were some random ones looking up my name!

I don't think anyone uses bign, as there were no links from it. Boards.ie, facebook.com and Google. com all donated over 150 views each. ( sometimes links just come up as direct though, which is why 66% of views were from direct linking)

there were 12 referrals from websites in the "links" tab.

75% of visitors were new vistors and 25% were returning.
over 50 visitors did not speak english!

FlashGot + Firefox

I switched from IE to Firefox about a month ago. Best decision ever. I get less viruses, less pop-ups. and everything loads quicker. It took a bit of getting used to, but once you've got firefox , you won't wanna go back.
I tried Chrome too, but ... meh...

You can download Firefox here.

Once again my reliable friend van has reccommended something else. An add-on to fire-fox, FlashGot downloads any media on a page. ANY. think of the possibilities.
Unfortunately the FlashGot Website is horrifically designed, and near-impossible to navigate, but if you trawl through it, you'll find it's very useful :)

Other Extension I use are:

ColourfulTabs - makes it prettyful

HomestarRunner is a web cartoon, most of the videos are based around , guess who? homestar runner! but there's also another show on the character Strongbad's emails. Personally i prefer the emails, they're very funny :D

They also upload their videos as a podcast, so you can watch them on the go. (that's how i watch them)

They're my favourite web animation series, so you should definetly check it out!!

Two sites this time. MyMusicStream and TheHypeMachine

Both sites let you listen to lots of unsigned artists and bands. And mixed tracks
on mymusicstream most songs are free to download, so that's always good! I found though that thehypemachine had better quality songs, if not always free, (but if you look hard enough, sometimes the artists have free EPs and stuff)

Maybe you'll be able to find a diamond among the rough?

This guy, is a genius. He bought a website. He thought, what can i do within these 1,000,000 pixels?
Sell it.
The Million Dollar Homepage is his site, he sold each of those pixels for a dollar each. that's 1million dollars!
nice!, right?

So basically its a page with loads of ads. You have to see it though, It is A-W-E-S-O-M-E

according to Engadget.com Sony is developing a device to compete with the big phone brands, Apple, obviously being the major competitor.
Engadget claims to have a good source for this rumour, hopefully claims are correct. But it won't be released for a while.

Are we entering the next generation of games with the likes of this and the 3ds? lets hope so

want a custom homepage? Protopage is just that, with a wealth of widgets and boxes to choose from.
You have the usual boxes, weather ,comic strip , quotes etc.
but you can add feeds on it. (so you can put Oooh! Cool! on it lol) and there's a subpage for notes and stuff, which is really handy also.
you have to register but you can see what its like beforehand by just visiting

Filext is a website that has compiled almost all types of files so when windows cannot find the program to access the file, you know what to do!

Don't you hate those files that don't delete? no matter how hard you try?
You need Deletor!!!, it deletes nearly anything. i haven't found a file it wont delete yet!

SnapaShot is the best screen capture program in my opinion.
It's a small file and easy to use, and not at all complicated.
Simply drag the window to where you want a picture, and click copy or save. That's it!!
